Welcome

Welcome to Inyoken (陰陽拳).

Inyoken is the name I have given to my Jujutsu practice, which is in a continual process of growth and evolution as I learn more about Chinese Internal Martial Arts.

Inyoken is derived from:

  1. Methods of body development from yoga and qigong.
  2. Methods of mid-range defense from aikido and baguazhang.
  3. Methods of mid-range offense from kempo and xingyiquan.
  4. Methods of locking and throwing from aikido and jujutsu.

Inyoken is a modern form of jujutsu, taught in a traditional manner.

Its core set of finishing techniques consists of a number of locks, pins, strikes, chokes, sweeps, and throws. These techniques are performed with proper body mechanics and a general theory of movement drawn from my continuing study of the Chinese Internal Martial Arts of xingyiquan, baguazhang, and taijiquan.

Attention is paid to posture, balance, and alignment of forces inside the body. Whether striking, deflecting, locking or throwing, we always retain the ability to feel, move, and change.

Namaste!
